Making ketchup at home

You can also make ketchup at home, and here’s a very good recipe for it. Homemade ketchup can be even tastier than store-bought ketchup, but it’s certainly healthier. It’s worth a try.

Tomatoes are a wonderful source of vitamins, they contain all the vitamins our body needs.

And the benefits of tomatoes go beyond the fact that they contain lots of vitamins. Tomatoes make the skin beautiful and help to build strong bones. Tomatoes can help to balance normal blood sugar levels and also improves vision and makes hair more beautiful.

It is believed that if you eat tomatoes regularly, you can avoid a number of diseases, including kidney stones. It is therefore worth eating as many tomatoes and ketchup as possible, homemade of course.

Ingredients:

  • 2 kg flesh tomatoes
  • 1 kg green peppers
  • 0.5 kg of paprika
  • 5 onions
  • 1 head of garlic
  • 5 bay leaves
  • ½ tsp. oregano
  • ½ tbsp. basil
  • ½ cup olive oil
  • a few sprigs of dill
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground red pepper
  • salt, pepper to taste

Preparation:
Wash the tomatoes, cut out the green part if there is any. Slice and grind in a tomato grinder, leaving only the flesh and juice of the tomatoes. You can also use a food processor. Roast the peppers and peel them. Chop the onion and peel the garlic. Bring the tomatoes to the boil and cook for about 1 hour, while you chop the other ingredients in a food processor. When the tomatoes are thick, add the chopped ingredients and cook for another half an hour.

You can also add a cup of olive oil. Add the spices, taste and salt to taste. Put the hot ketchup in jars, seal and put in the oven for half an hour to stew. To do this, line a baking dish with some soft cloth, place the jars in it and pour in 3 fingers of water. Place in a cold oven, then turn the heat to medium and leave the jars in for 30 minutes. When removed from the oven, place in a dry dunce pan between thick cloths and leave to cool, then place on a shelf.

Not only can you make ketchup from the great tomato, you can also make sauce. Here is one of the best tomato sauce recipes:

Ingredients:

  • quarter cup olive oil
  • 1 small red onion
  • 300 grams of tomatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 tablespoons red wine
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • quarter cup chopped fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley leaves, finely chopped
  • salt and ground pepper

Fry the onion and garlic in the oil until golden brown. Add the tomatoes. Then add the wine and bay leaf. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to minimum and cover. Cook over a low heat, stirring occasionally for 35 minutes. Then stir in the puree, basil and parsley. Then remove the bay leaf and simmer for a further 25 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove the garlic before serving.

You can also make a great tomato smoothie from this wonderful plant.

You need very few ingredients:


-3 ripe tomatoes

-half a glass of cold water

-1 half a glass of fresh tomatoes, 1 half a glass of fresh tomatoes, salt and pepper to taste
